Julián Muñoz, the ex Mayor of Marbella is back in Málaga province. His trial starts in the provincial court in Málaga on 17th January. He arrived in the Málaga provincial prison in Alhaurín de la Torre last Thursday.
He has spent most of the past 13 months in Jaén, where he was transferred in October 2006 after authorities in Alhaurín discovered other inmates were filming him and other Malaya prisoners. He spent a period back in Alhaurín last November on a temporary basis, but there’s been no confirmation on whether this latest move is permanent or not. It’s understood the order came from the Central Prison Authority.
Muñoz is in court again later this month, in a hearing which has been postponed on two previous occasions, and which also affects seven former councillors in Marbella. It relates to a building licence granted in 1999 against the planning regulations in force at the time. The ex Mayor faces a possible two years in prison and a 10 year ban from public office.
