The two men were arrested as they were about to take a flight to the UK.
Richard Henry R, 35, confessed to the crime saying he did it because Daniel Hastelow had threatened to kill him a previous fight between the two men in a local bar.
Fellow detainee Paul Anthony G admitted the facts and confessed to having cooperated in the crime.
Other witnesses have described the victim as a regular troublemaker who often got into fights around the resort.
The incident took place at around 4.00 on Sunday at the victim’s home in Apartamentos Playa Mar, Magaluf, within the town of Calvià.
Emergency services received a call from a young Briton, allegedly a friend of the victim, informing that he had been attacked at his apartment.
Police entered the apartment and found the victim seriously injured after being stabbed repeatedly in the chest and back. They gave the victim first aid but when paramedics arrived they were unable to save his life.
Two witnesses questioned by police said they were inside the apartment when the attack took place. According to their statements the attackers forced the door open and attacked the Briton.
Both attackers were identified and arrested at Son Sant Joan airport.
Police are now searching for the knife used to commit the crime and which the detainees claim to have thrown into the sea.

I didnt meet Dan, But I am his siters close friend. None of this is correct.
I aint gonna lie to anyone, Dan did get into trouble fighting. Most of it yes he didnt walk away from. He didnt cause it, Just couldnt walk away from it.
But i do need to say that even if he had been the cause of fights, which he wasnt, that didnt give anyone the right to stab him to death.
What actually used to happen was that Dan was a big bloke and everyone knows inlcuding me there are always going to be men that want to fight the biggest to prove thier own worth, in their own heads that is.
What actually happened so as you know if your reading this rubbish is that Dan got into a scuffle in the bar where he worked. He had been drinking and it was his birthday he was 26.
It was all forgetten and he carried on enjoying his night. He rang his nephew and chatted, so he wasnt that drunk.
When he went home to his apartment, he was followed. Some hours later these two men broke into the place and stabbed Dan while he slept.
He wasnt found in there, he got up and tried to defend himself with a sliced liver and a punctured lung. He fell down two flights of stairs and dragged himself onto the street. That is where he was collected from. He died of intensive stab wounds two hours later.
No one desreved that. NO ONE.
The first I heard was 8am the next morning when his siter rang me....I wish those men could of heard that call when she soobed so hard i couldnt hear her, could of heard the one after when she told me her mom was gong...and the ones every day since last sunday.
I never believed in the Death penalty till now. But this wasnt a fight that got out of hand, this was premedatated murder. He was follow, it was planned, and weapons were collect to do it with.

I am Richards daughter Lauren, I give my deepest sympathy to dan's family and friends, but i can assure you now my Dad wasnt in the slitest bit of a trouble maker what so ever he had never even had a fight before in his life!
I know what hes done is very wrong and he has admitted to that and wants to go to jail for his crime, Knowing very well he will be serving at least 25 - 30 years and will probly pass away in there.

Dan was by no mean's perfect, but who can truly say that they are? I for one can't.
Dan was always there when a friend needed him. He was one of the funniest, caring and most cheeky people that I have ever met and I for one feel lucky to have had him as a friend for nearly 10 years.
I have some fantastic memories from night's/day's out with Dan, and Ritchie's actions have meant that I will not be able to create anymore memories of Dan, nor will his friends and family.
Lauren, I feel for you as you and your sister have lost your Dad through his own actions, he may be inprisoned for the rest of his day's but at least you have comfort in knowing he is alive, we don't have that luxury with Dan.

I believe it is due to the spanish law. As it is a murder investigation that has not been concluded they will not release Dan.

We all have our bad ways, we all get into trouble one way and another. I spoke with my Brother Richard today that phone call must of lasted around 3min if that. as he sobbed couid not speak he endid up putting the phone down on me. i was only with him 48hours before this happend as he came home to see his 15year and 17year old daughters. he was enjoying life over there had a job Richard was never a trouble maker and i can honstly say he has never fighted with anyone he wasnt the type infact he wouid run away from one. i have spoke to my Brothers lawyer everyday Richard has admitted to every part he played that night his lawyer told him by doing this he faces up to 30years in jail and thats what he wants so has admitted it he wll tell the truth about the problems he was having with dan at his trial because to admitt to what he done and face the rest of his life in jail there wouid be no point in lying about anything else as he wouid have nothing to gain from it. it takes someone whos very remorsful to admit that but thats my Brother i konw him the best he will feel ashamed the guilt will destroy him as he is not a bad person me my brothers and family no that and thats why we will be here everyday for him not 1 person in my family or friends wouid ever turn away from him because like i said he wasnt a trouble maker and was totally out of charater for Richard that night my Brother was scared as my brothers were due to go out there and spend time with him but he loved being out there had a little life for himself no matter what i write will not change the way dans family think of him and am not trying to do that as that will never happen but my Brother is not scum and will not rott in hell yes he will pay for what has happend i will be honest and say i wish with all my heart Richard and Dan had never met as we have lost are brother his girls have lost a dad yes he his still alive but things will never be the same just like Dans family wont be!

They say the truth hurts... well here i go on what i know about Dan.
Sober, he was the nicest bloke you could ever meet. His smile WAS infectious! Once he had a few pints, he wanted to argue with the world. I've been fortunate to have been friends with Dan, his mother, sisters, and his late father. Due to Dan's actions, not only was his mothers windows put through, and grief suffered, but many a time his fathers windows were put through too. Dixie(Dan's dad) and Dan had not been in touch for years, then once together again, it was to be short lived. Less than 12 months ago, my beloved Dixie passed away, leaving all his family grieving. None more so than Dan. Dan, as long as i've known him took drugs, abused lighter gas, and loved his beer ( who doesn't love beer!!) He was always up for fighting or at least a good arguement!
At least he made things up with his dad, and Dan loved him so much. I think they had only been in touch about 2/3 years before his dad died 9 months previous to Dan going to join him. Dan lived life on the edge, and always had done for the time i'd had the pleasue of knowing him. All through the trouble he AND others had caused, Dan did NOT deserve to die like that. I am happy that he ha his dad "over there" to talk to and to and look after him. Even though Dan has been a "rogue" i feel privilaged to have known him. HE DID NOT DESERVE THAT FATE THAT TOOK HIS VERY YOUNG LIFE, Dan, babe, i love you! Please look after Dixie for me, cos i know he will look after you. Sleep well.... Till we meet again.... I grew up round the corner from danny for 16 yrs.My wife was in the same year and class as him at school as i knew him and like to remember him as such a nice lad. There really are some thick, mindless people posting stupid commenst on here. I spent yesterday with a completely broken woman (Dan's Mom) as we held a memorial service for him. Would she have gone through all of that if she wasn't sure it was her son? She saw him in his coffin in Spain for god's sake!!!
Danny was so unpopular that around 300 people attended his memorial service. The church was packed and over 100 people stood at the back of the church.
